Welcome to Serres, a vibrant medieval town in the Hautes-Alpes department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region of France. The town is part of the Baronnies Provençales Regional Natural Park, created in 2015. Serres is a very picturesque village with a church, city hall, and clock tower. It’s definitely worth making a stop! Nestled against La Pignolette rock, the village overlooks the Buëch river that winds through the valley. The villagers say the town is Sisteron’s little sister. The only thing missing is the citadel, destroyed by Richelieu in 1633.
Head to the market on Saturday morning to try local products such as tourtons, goat cheese, and honey. It takes about 45 minutes to walk through the medieval village. Head to the tourist office for information where our charming hostesses will be happy to assist you. You will be 1.5 km from downtown at our Serres campsite.
You will love taking the little Citadel train in the summer, which will pick you up from the campsite and take you to explore the town of Sisteron, called the pearl of the Haute-Provence. The best view of the old town and the river banks is from the Citadel’s terrace. You can wander down the little streets downtown, shop at the many boutiques and try one of our regional specialties.
